Allison Gingras recently featured me on her daily radio show, A Seeking Heart with Allison Gingras.  We delved into our discussion about what it’s like to raise children with special needs.  Allison has an adopted daughter who is hearing impaired, so she and I connected instantly on the level of caregiver.

I loved the segment about ways I’ve grown since having children with special needs.  The virtues I sorely lack have been tested, challenged, and strengthened by raising unique children who are unlike their typical peers in some ways.

Allison also asked me what it means to be a caregiver and navigate grief in terms of finding meaning in our faith journeys, and I responded that it’s important to be sensitive to those who are hurting.  Often we do not know who God is and question everything we ever believed to be true.  So I explained the value in approaching others with tenderness and patience, realizing that we all differ in where we are in our spiritual beliefs.

We also talked about my book and upcoming release, From Grief to Grace, which will be published in early 2016.
